It's March!!!! Yeah, well to me March has always signified that we are heading towards the beginning of Spring, but what's going on this year? It seemed like all they reported on the local news last night is an upcoming storm for Southern Ontario beginning today in the afternoon. And by storm I mean rain and snow and all that yucky jazz. Obviously, I am not looking forward to this and neither is anyone else I know. Yesterday, however, the weather was beautiful. It was only zero degrees C, the sun was shining, the sidewalks were clear of snow, and I just couldn't miss the opportunity to take Natasha outside. I took her for 1 1/4 hour walk; the park road was not snow-free so we ended up wondering the neighborhood, and guess what - every other mother in the area decided to take advantage of the sunshine too. There were about a million other strollers outside with about a million bundled up baby heads picking out. Too cute. Natasha explored her sorroundings the first half of the walk, then got cranky, and drifted to sleep for the remainder of the time. I mentioned this before, but find it incredibly amazing as to how fascinated little babies are with seeing something for the first time; their eyes grow wide and this confused expression appears on their little faces. Everything we take for granted - to them it's fresh, and new, and exciting. Oh, to be a baby again...
Today is also my great-grandmother's 90th birthday. Wow. A lot of people's jaws drop to the floor when I mention we have 5 generations in the family; especially this Western (or Canadian, from my experience) 'culture' is waiting until their mid-30s or early 40s to start a family. People tend to prioritize their degrees and careers over finally settling down, getting married, and starting a family. And I don't think it's wrong at all, but it's just not the type of a lifestyle I wanted for myself. In my family everyone had kids in their very early 20s, we've lived to see 5 generations, and I think this is truly special and almost unqiue. I only regret that we don't all live in the same country. My mom flew to Israel to celebrate this occasion with the family over there, and she's returning home this wekeend. Upon her return, we're finally taking Natasha to get her ears pierced. Isn't that exciting? To me it sure is, can't wait!
