Our little monkey has learned to sit up all by herself from a laying position, unassisted. She's been trying for weeks, but she always had to grab unto something and pull herself upwards. Well, not anymore. She can now do it all on her own, and Boy is she proud of herself! It's very cute, and I love seeing the proud look of accomplishment on her face, but honestly, that is all she is doing now. The moment I lay her down for a nap in the crib, she sits up. And this happens before every nap and before her bedtime as well. And of course, it was very frustrating for me as I was used to putting her down and she would fall asleep within seconds.
So being a first-time-mom, I kept going into her room and laying her back down, only to have her get up again. It was getting frustrating. And then I was told to just let her be, that if she isn't crying or whining in any way, she just needs her time to wind down before she falls asleep. So I started following this advice. And hooray, it worked! Well at least in the sense that Natasha still sits up, but after about 20-40 minutes of talking to herself or moving around the crib, she finally gets exhausted and falls asleep.
Our little girl is growing up! I cannot believe next month she will turn one.
